Outbound Call Campaigns: Upload a CSV, Get Call Dispositions

Updated October 8, 2026Published October 6, 2026

A cold call list goes stale fast. Some numbers ring out. Some go to voicemail every time. A few have a real person who picks up. Most of a dial block goes to finding out which is which.

VoiceAgent outbound campaigns sort that out before your reps start. You upload the sheet, VoiceAgent checks each number, and every row comes back with a result. Your reps then put their time into the rows where a person answered.

Step 1: Upload your sheet

In the Outbound tab, create a campaign, leave the agent on Pickup check (no agent), pick the number you call from, and upload your list as a CSV file. Picking an agent instead places an AI call with an opening line. The only column you need is the phone number. Call it phone, number, or mobile. A name column is optional, and any other columns, like company, city, or notes, stay attached to each row.

Write every number with its country code, for example +1 for US numbers. Numbers without one can be read wrong or left out. If the same number is on the list twice, it gets dialed twice, so remove duplicates first.

Working in Excel or Google Sheets? Save or download the sheet as a CSV, then upload that file.

Rows without a phone number are skipped. Before you start, you confirm that you have consent to call everyone on the list.

Step 2: Start the campaign

Press Start. VoiceAgent dials each number once and detects what answers: a person, a voicemail box, a busy line, or nothing. This is a quick pickup check. Nobody pitches, and no AI holds a conversation with your prospect. Each number uses one minute from your plan.

VoiceAgent uses answering machine detection (AMD) to sort each number into human, voicemail, busy, or no answer.

You can watch it run. Rows move from Queued to a result, and a progress bar shows how much of the list is done. You can pause the campaign at any time.

Want more detail on each number? Before you start, you can turn on two optional checks: line type and status, and caller name (US numbers only). Each one adds minutes per number, and the campaign screen shows the total before you press Start.

Step 3: Read the call disposition on every row

Each row gets one of four results: Human, Voicemail, Busy, or No answer. Nobody on your team marks them by hand. If a number can't be dialed, the row shows an error with the reason.

Step 4: Download the CSV and follow up

When the results are in, press Download CSV. You get your list back, with your original columns and a status column showing each result. Sort or filter by status, and your reps start with the Human rows.

What each result means, and what to do next

ResultWhat it meansWhat to do next
HumanA person picked up.Call these first, while the number is fresh. This is where your reps' time pays off.
VoicemailThe call reached a voicemail box.Try a different time of day. If your rep leaves a message, keep it short and give one clear reason to call back.
BusyThe line was busy.Try again later the same day. The pickup check dials once and does not retry, so add these to a new campaign or the rep's list.
No answerIt rang and nobody picked up.Try a different day and time before you drop the number.

Results come from automatic answering machine detection. Treat them as a guide for where to start, and let your reps' own calls have the final word.

Calling the Human rows

The pickup check tells you who answers. The sales call is always a person on your team.

Reps call from the browser. In the Outbound tab, they open Call now, choose to call as themselves, and enter the number. After the call, the recording, the transcript, and a short AI summary are saved with it, so a manager can catch up on a call block later without sitting on every line.

Who this is for

Dialer teams and owner-operators who work from a list: real estate follow-up, local service outbound, and small SDR teams. If most of your dial block goes to rings and voicemail, start here.

FAQ

Can I upload an Excel file?

Upload a CSV. In Excel or Google Sheets, save or download the sheet as a CSV first, then upload it.

What columns does my sheet need?

A phone number column named phone, number, or mobile, with the country code on every number. A name column is optional. Any other columns stay attached to each row.

Does an AI make sales calls to my list?

Not in this workflow. The pickup check dials each number once to see who answers, and no conversation happens. The sales calls are made by your reps.

What does someone hear if they pick up?

Their phone rings. If they answer, there's a short pause while VoiceAgent detects the pickup, then the call ends. Nothing is said and no voicemail is left.

How many minutes does a campaign use?

The pickup check uses one minute per number. The optional line type and caller name checks add minutes per number, and the campaign screen shows the total before you start.
